The Municipality of Vila Real is promoting a series of workshops and demonstrations dedicated to Bisalhes Black Clay, in an initiative integrated into the safeguarding actions for this ancestral art and the municipality's intangible cultural heritage. A total of six sessions are planned, led by experienced potters and new artisans trained in this tradition, providing different perspectives on the techniques and knowledge associated with making Bisalhes Black Pottery.
Two of the initiatives are open to the general public and will take place at Espaço d'Artes – Jorge Marinho, on September 5 and 19, upon prior registration and with limited capacity. The remaining sessions are intended for students from two professional schools in Vila Real, providing young people with direct contact with this centuries-old tradition.
The initiative aims to bring the community, particularly younger generations, closer to an ancestral knowledge that continues to be preserved and transmitted in the territory. The goal is to ensure the continuity of this traditional art, passing on the knowledge associated with Bisalhes Black Pottery to younger generations.
