The Venezuelan diaspora is asking to be included in the dialogue on the democratic transition in Venezuela. The request was formalized through a joint statement signed by 106 organizations spread across Latin America, North America, and Europe.
The document highlights the importance of representing the millions of Venezuela who left the country and who, according to the organizations, must also have a voice in discussions about the political future of Venezuela.
The initiative comes at a time of growing international pressure on the Venezuelan government, with several countries calling for transparency and respect for democratic processes in the country.
The signatory organizations argue that the diaspora is directly affected by political decisions in Venezuela and, therefore, must actively participate in any negotiation aimed at a democratic transition in the country.
