The Socialist Party considered that the Government lives at the expense of Portuguese people through the increase in fuel prices. The criticism was made by the parliamentary leader of PS, Eurico Brilhante Dias.
Eurico Brilhante Dias pointed to more than one billion euros in revenue resulting from the fuel price increases since 2024. The value represents the financial impact that the Executive will have obtained from the price increases.
This accusation arises in the context of a broader political debate about fiscal policy and energy prices in Portugal. PS has been criticizing the way the Government manages taxes on fuels.
The PS position reflects the concern with the cost of living for Portuguese people and the weight that fuel price increases have had on family budgets.
