Antonio de Rueda, national president of União Brasil, is from Pernambuco, but is trying to get elected Federal Deputy from Rio de Janeiro. On August 26 at 7:45 PM, he arrived at a house in the Xavantes neighborhood, in Belford Roxo, accompanied by former mayor Márcio Canella (União), to speak to a group of 60 people.
Among those present, few knew they were in the presence of the leader of the party federation that has the largest number of parliamentarians in Congress, União-PP, with 124 deputies and senators. On the occasion, Rueda relied on one of the biggest leaders in Baixada Fluminense to ask for votes of confidence in his candidacy.
The Pernambuco lawyer began his political career in 2001, when he joined PSL. As a party leader, he was the one who affiliated Jair Bolsonaro and gave him the party label so the former president could get elected in 2018.
After that, Rueda coordinated the merger process of PSL with DEM, giving rise to União Brasil, which became the largest party force in the country.
