The Governing Chamber of the Spanish National Court approved the candidacy to the Supreme Court of seven of its magistrates, as per a document dated July 28 to which the editorial team had access. Among the candidates are judges linked to cases of great judicial relevance.
Among the approved magistrates are those responsible for the Gürtel and Púnica cases, two of the most important proceedings against political corruption in Spain. The candidacy of a former advisor to the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, was also approved.
The selected judges are Vicente Manuel Rouco Rodríguez, Jesús Eduardo Gutiérrez Gómez, José Ricardo Juan de Prada Solaesa, Eloy Velasco Núñez, Enrique López López, María Dolores Hernández Rueda and Joaquín Delgado Martín. They all informed the Qualification Section of the General Council of the Judiciary of their intention to run for the Supreme Court.
