Dutch driver Loek Hartog abandoned the race during a China GT round at the Shanghai International Circuit on Saturday to save British driver Ollie Millroy, whose car caught fire after a serious crash. Hartog, who was right behind, stopped his Ferrari 296 GT3 and risked his own life to pull Millroy out of the burning vehicle. The accident happened about 15 minutes after the start of the race, which had a planned duration of 55 minutes.

The collision involved David Chen, from Harmony Racing, and Neil Verhagen, from TBC by 610 Racing, at Turn 14. Chen's Ferrari spun around and came back into the racing line, being hit at high speed by Millroy's Ferrari 296 GT3. Upon impact, Millroy's car caught fire and ended up in the escape area, where it rear-ended a barrier.

Millroy, 36 years old, suffered five rib fractures, as well as injuries to his collarbone, hand, and a finger, plus a pulmonary contusion. He received medical treatment and stated that he is doing well given the severity of the crash. The British driver publicly thanked Hartog, calling him "the greatest superhero in history."
