The Sanctuary of Fatima does not consider removing or covering the panel by Jesuit artist Marko Rupnik located there, despite the Vatican putting him on trial for violation cases. This position comes at a time when there is talk of the possibility of a visit by Pope Francis to Fatima.

In contrast, the Sanctuary of Lourdes, in France, decided to permanently cover Rupnik's works before the Pope's visit, which took place last December. This decision was made following the convictions of the Slovenian artist by the Vatican.

Marko Rupnik, a Jesuit and artist known for his mosaics and murals in sanctuaries around the world, was censured by the Vatican for serious violations, including crimes of solicitude. His works have been the subject of growing controversy and several sanctuaries have been removing or covering them.

The Rupnik panel in Fatima is part of the Seminary chapel of the Sanctuary and can be seen by the faithful who visit the site. The Sanctuary of Fatima maintains its position of not altering the work until there is an official guidance from the Church on the matter.
