Póvoa Andebol suffered this Saturday their second defeat in the National First Division Championship, losing to Benfica 30-37, in a match from the 2nd round played at the Municipal Pavilion in Póvoa de Varzim. The Póvoa side went into halftime trailing 14-17, managing to stay in the fight for long periods of the match against one of the contenders for the national title. However, the greater efficiency of the reds in the second half ended up making the difference in the final score.
In a highly contested match before a good crowd, the club highlighted the strong support from fans in the stands. Póvoa Andebol thanked their supporters' presence through social media, stating that they intend to continue making the Pavilion a Póvoa fortress.
After two rounds played, Póvoa Andebol occupies 9th place in the standings, with two points earned. The team coached by Carlos Resende now returns to action on September 12, when they travel to Lisbon to face Belenenses, in a match scheduled for 3 PM, in the next round of the championship.
