Northeastern artists gain prominence at Rock in Rio

extra5 September 2026 at 08:00

Northeastern music takes center stage at Rock in Rio, one of the world's largest music festivals. The event takes place at Rock City, at the Olympic Park, in Barra da Tijuca, Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro, and continues through September 13.

Among the Northeastern artists performing at the festival is Bahian Larissa Luz, from Salvador, who performed on Friday at the Rock in Rio project, on the Supernova stage. The singer and songwriter is known for blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms, rock, and pop music.

On Saturday, September 5, at 4:50 PM, Piaui native Getúlio Abelha, from Teresina, will make a special appearance at the Canto Cego show, at Favela Space. The artist combines forró, brega, pop, and electronic music in his sound.

On Sunday, at 5:50 PM, Bahian BaianaSystem performs on the Sunset Stage, bringing their blend of Bahian guitar, ijexá, afrorock, and sound system. The festival thus brings together several artists from the Northeast region at one of the world's most important music events.
