President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the President of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, met in a closed conversation before an event at the Palace on Friday to discuss the crisis affecting the Court. The meeting lasted about half an hour and took place in Lula's office.
In addition to Lula and Fachin, those present at the meeting were the Attorney General of Brazil, Paulo Gonet, the Director-General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, the President of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), Luis Felipe Salomão, the Attorney General of the Union, Jorge Messias, and the Minister of Justice, Wellington César Lima e Silva, who arrived at the end.
Of those present, Gonet and Rodrigues are cited in a batch of messages from banker Daniel Vorcaro that were revealed this week. The event after the meeting dealt with the sanctioning of bills that create funds for the Federal Justice, Public Prosecutor's Office, and Public Defender's Office of the Union.
According to people present at the meeting, Lula and Fachin discussed the crisis at the STF, but did not go in depth into possible ways to address the situation.
