This school year there are more classes without assigned teachers than last year. The situation has worsened significantly, with the number of positions to be filled approaching double compared to the previous period.
The shortage mainly affects primary school teachers, that is, teachers who teach from ages 6 to 10. These vacancies prove particularly difficult to fill.
Lisbon is again the Portuguese district with the most difficulties in hiring teachers. The capital continues to be the most problematic region in terms of teacher recruitment.
