Israel wants to remove entire Gaza population in seven years

Israel's Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, presented a seven-year plan to remove the entire Gaza population from the territory. Ben-Gvir is a member of the far-right party Jewish Power.

Ben-Gvir's proposed plan is based on so-called "voluntary emigration," meaning the idea of encouraging Gaza residents to leave the region of their own free will over this seven-year period.

Ben-Gvir's proposal comes amid the conflict in Gaza, which has intensified since the October 7, 2023 attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel. The Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip has left tens of thousands dead and displaced the majority of the Gazan population.

If implemented, the plan would represent a drastic change in the demographics of Gaza, a territory where approximately 2.3 million people live, and has been widely condemned internationally as a violation of international law.
