Portuguese tennis player Nuno Borges was eliminated in the first round of doubles at the US Open, the fourth Grand Slam of the tennis season. Borges was playing in partnership with Australian Rinky Hijikata in his doubles debut at this edition of the tournament.
The Portuguese-Australian duo lost to American Robert Cash and Austrian Alexander Erler, thus being eliminated from the doubles competition at the US Open.
This participation marked the first time Nuno Borges competed in doubles at this North American competition, which takes place annually as one of the four Grand Slam tournaments.
