PS again proposed in Parliament a reduction of VAT on fuels and essential food goods. The social democrats accuse the Government of benefiting fiscally from rising prices and of worsening the cost of living for citizens.
PCP considered the reinforcement of fuel discounts announced by the Executive insufficient. The communists defend a firmer intervention with oil companies to stop the price escalation.
Both political forces presented their proposals to the Executive at a time of strong inflationary pressure on Portuguese families, with fuel prices and essential goods reaching high values.
