Governor Mateus Simões, candidate for re-election in Minas Gerais, recorded an insertion for the free electoral airtime that will be aired this Friday, in which he directly attacks Senator Cleitinho Azevedo (Republicanos). In the video, Simões uses a version of the popular saying "don't swap the certain for the doubtful," changing it to "don't swap Mateus for the doubtful."
In the advertisement, the governor lists the achievements of his administration, which began when he was vice of former governor Romeu Zema (Novo), and asks voters not to be "swapped for the doubtful." Simões states that he was "on the front lines, fixing the disaster that old politics did to our state, negotiating debts, adjusting accounts, and cutting privileges."
The governor also makes a direct reference to videos published by Cleitinho on his social media, saying that "he didn't go around filming holes." The comment refers to the frequent posts by the senator showing problems on roads and public streets in Minas Gerais.
Simões states that his administration found the state in a difficult situation, with abandoned construction projects, abandoned hospitals, and "abandoned people," but that it chose to work directly to put the accounts in order and make Minas move forward.
