The socialist leader accused the Government of Luís Montenegro of "making money at the expense of the sacrifice of the Portuguese" through fuel price increases. This accusation comes at a time of strong pressure on fuel prices in the country.
According to the accusation made by Carneiro, on the following Monday, Portugal would face the biggest fuel price increase ever. This forecast worsens the economic situation of Portuguese families.
The socialist leader also expressed the intention to lower VAT as a measure to counteract the impact of these increases on consumers. This proposal comes as an alternative to the current policy of the Executive.
