AIMA (Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum) announced that it will hire 150 workers to expand its response capacity for immigrants. The agency also revealed that its workforce has already increased by 17% between July 2024 and July 2026, and that it intends to continue this hiring process.
The decision comes at a time when the agency faces criticism regarding its capacity to serve and process immigration-related applications. The staffing increase aims to address the growing demand for services from immigrants and refugees.
The Migration Technicians Union reacted to the announcement with skepticism. According to the organization, the 150 new hires figure is a "misleading number," suggesting that the measure is insufficient to resolve the agency's structural problems.
AIMA did not specify which areas the new workers will be assigned to nor what selection criteria will be used for these hirings.
