Argentine footballer Facundo Cáseres is the latest addition to Santos Laguna, the Mexican club that has Portuguese coach Renato Paiva at the helm. The 26-year-old midfielder was linked to Gil Vicente, a Portuguese Primeira Liga team, and has already officially said goodbye to the Minho club.
The official announcement of the transfer was made by Santos Laguna through their social media, confirming the arrival of the Argentine player in Mexico. Cáseres thus becomes the Mexican club's second signing during this transfer window, joining the project led by Renato Paiva.
The midfielder arrived at Gil Vicente in 2022, coming from Newell's Old Boys, and became an important piece in the team's midfield. During his time in Barcelos, the Argentine played over 80 official matches for Gil Vicente, contributing with several goals and assists.
This transfer represents another departure of an important player for Portuguese football, with Facundo Cáseres choosing to continue his career in Mexico under the command of another Portuguese, Renato Paiva, who is already well familiar with the South American market.
