The Regional Electoral Court of the Federal District (TRE-DF) unanimously rejected the registration of José Roberto Arruda's (PSD) candidacy for governor of the Federal District. The decision maintained the former governor's ineligibility due to convictions for administrative improbity related to Operation Pandora's Box.
Despite the decision, Arruda is not immediately removed from the race. He may continue campaigning while appealing the decision to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Under certain conditions, his name may still be presented to voters on the electronic ballot.
The former governor has already announced he will appeal to the TSE to try to reverse the situation. The future of his candidacy is now in the hands of the superior Electoral Justice, which opens a period of uncertainty for the race for governor of the Federal District.
