Douglas Ruas's legal team (PL), candidate for Governor of Rio, filed on Thursday an Action of Judicial Electoral Investigation against Eduardo Paes's campaign (PSD) at the Regional Electoral Court of Rio. The action was signed by lawyer Tiago Santos Silva and targeted a TV advertisement aired last Tuesday.
The document makes 16 requests to the Court, including the removal of the material both on television and on social media. Additionally, there is a request for the cancellation of the candidacy registrations of Paes and his running mate Jane Reis, as well as the declaration of ineligibility of both for eight years.
Part of the requests is related to the use of artificial intelligence without prior notice in Paes's electoral piece. According to Ruas's defense, the tool was used with the intention of "criminally spreading disinformation," exceeding the limits permitted by electoral legislation.
