The coordinator of Flavio Bolsonaro's (PL) campaign, Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), sought Justice Gilmar Mendes to discuss the crisis scenario at the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and preserve channels of dialogue with the Court. The meeting was requested by Marinho and confirmed to GLOBO by interlocutors from both sides.
The movement occurs amid the escalation of Flavio Bolsonaro's criticism of STF members, especially Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The opposition candidate has intensified his campaign for the impeachment of Moraes and has begun accusing members of different branches of government of conspiring against his candidacy.
People close to Marinho stated that one of the concerns during the conversation with Gilmar Mendes was to make clear that defending the impeachment of Moraes does not mean an intention to break bridges with the rest of the Court.
Flavio Bolsonaro's allies have shared this concern in their speeches, attacking specifically Moraes, but seeking not to generalize the criticism to all STF justices.
