Alexandre Pato is set to become a shareholder of Northampton Town, a club in the fourth tier of English football. The Brazilian striker, 37, announced the investment via social media, revealing that he is investing in the club that competes in League Two, the fourth tier of English football.
Pato, who played for clubs such as São Paulo, AC Milan, Chelsea and Villarreal, decided to invest in English football outside the big stages. The player, who has not been playing professionally since 2023, found in Northampton an opportunity to get involved in the sport as an investor and owner.
Northampton Town currently occupies lower positions in the League Two standings. With this investment, Pato joins a growing list of former Brazilian players who are betting on investments in European football as a way to maintain their connection to the sport after ending their on-field careers.
