The court acquitted Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, former mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia, of the corruption and embezzlement charges. The court found there was insufficient evidence to convict the former city council president.
Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues had been indicted for corruption and embezzlement crimes and was tried for these same crimes. The Public Ministry had filed charges against the former mayor.
Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues's term was interrupted in 2025. This interruption occurred after the court sentenced him to lose his position for misuse of the municipal vehicle.
The embezzlement and corruption case now went to trial, where the court ultimately pronounced the acquittal of the former mayor.
