The Government approved the Terra+ Strategy, which aims to solve the waste management problem in Portugal. According to the Executive, this strategy emerges to respond to "one of the biggest problems in the country," related to the lack of space to place waste.
The solution presented by the Government implies a significant public investment. There are 1.6 billion euros planned to implement the measures defined in this waste management strategy.
The Executive acknowledges that the country is running out of capacity to accommodate the waste produced, which makes the adoption of new measures and investments in the sector urgent.
