The White House special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will travel to Moscow and Kiev this weekend to begin new consultations aimed at achieving a diplomatic resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. The Russian TASS agency reported this information today, citing anonymous sources.
According to the same Russian source, Trump's envoys are scheduled to arrive in Moscow on September 5th and subsequently in Kiev on September 6th. This is a new round of diplomatic contacts as part of efforts to end the war.
The trip was confirmed by a Ukrainian official under condition of anonymity, who spoke to the Agence France-Presse (AFP). This official did not specify additional details about the agenda or the concrete objectives of the meetings.
Trump's envoys to Russia and Ukraine come in a context of ongoing diplomatic efforts to try to find a solution to the conflict that has been raging for more than two years. The consultations are taking place without official disclosure by the White House.
