Fachin says the goal is to end the Fake News Inquiry and orders removal of accusations against Mendonça from the investigation

The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Minister Luiz Edson Fachin, determined that the goal is to close the Fake News Inquiry. The decision was made within the procedure that investigates alleged offenses against the Court and its members.

Fachin also ordered that the accusations involving Minister André Mendonça, also of the STF, be removed from the Fake News Inquiry. The case will now follow other procedural paths.

The president of the Supreme Court also determined that the Attorney General's Office (PGR) respond within five business days regarding the investigation request made by Minister Alexandre de Moraes against Minister André Mendonça.

The investigation request against Mendonça was presented by Moraes in the context of the same inquiry, raising questions about possible attacks on the honor of Court ministers.
