The former president of the Municipal Council of Vila do Conde Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues was acquitted of the crimes of prevarication and embezzlement. This acquittal comes in a judicial process distinct from another previous case.
Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues led the municipality of Vila do Conde for 12 years, having been mayor during this extended period before leaving the position.
In June 2025, the former mayor resigned from the position of council president. This resignation occurred after he had been convicted of loss of mandate for having used, personally, an electric vehicle belonging to the municipality.
The case that led to his previous conviction and consequent loss of mandate was related to the improper use of a municipal electric vehicle for personal purposes, an infraction distinct from the process for which he has now been acquitted.
