The Great Wout van Aert Shows Off in the Granada Furnace of the Vuelta

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General4 September 2026 at 16:36

The 13th stage of the Vuelta took place this Friday entirely in the province of Granada, in Spain, under extreme temperatures that never dropped below 38 degrees. The intense heat was one of the main characteristics of this stage, creating difficult conditions for the cyclists.

The stage was marked by several breakaway attempts, beginning with a large group of 43 riders who stood out at the start of the race. These breakaways were a constant throughout the entire stage.

The great protagonist of the day was Wout van Aert, an international cycling star, who achieved the victory at the finish line in Loja. The Belgian rider demonstrated his talent by managing to prevail in the final sprint.

Enric Mas remained in command of the general classification throughout the entire stage, continuing as the leader of the Vuelta. The race continues towards the final stages, with the general classification still in dispute.
