The Vatican blesses vegetarians: "We are obliged to reduce aggression against life to a minimum"

The Vatican, through the International Theological Commission, published an extensive 148-point document on the global ecological crisis that supports vegetarianism as an environmentally responsible option. The Holy See argues, based on biblical Genesis, that the original food offered by God to humans was only plants and fruit trees, which gives the vegetarian movement an "unquestionable theological foothold." The document, which advises the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, represents a significant endorsement by the Vatican of reducing meat consumption as a way to minimize damage to the planet.
