Célia Pessegueiro, president of PS-Madeira, accused the excessive centralization of European fund management of creating difficulties and inequalities in the Madeiran territory. The criticism was made at the closing of a debate on municipalities' access to European funds, held today in Santa Cruz.
The president of PS-Madeira specifically pointed to the concentration of decisions in the Regional Government as the main problem, arguing that this centralization harms municipalities and generates asymmetries in territorial development.
In addition to the issue of European funds, Célia Pessegueiro also pointed out a lack of pluralism in an initiative of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, suggesting that the debate did not include diverse enough perspectives.
