Pilot and influencer Lito Souza, 59 years old, was discharged after approximately three weeks hospitalized at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein and is now continuing treatment for Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease at his own home. The family arrived at their residence on Tuesday and is still adapting to the new routine.
Lito's wife, Mila Seidl, commented on Thursday that the structure needed to care for the influencer at home is greater than what existed before hospitalization. She explained that it has been a rush to get everything working properly in the home environment, since the hospital has many resources and care that need to be replicated at home.
The new routine created by the family includes physical therapy twice a day, as well as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and psychological counseling. Mila stated that the dynamic has been intense, but that the results are already showing positive outcomes.
Mila also commented on the meaning of palliative care, clarifying that this type of treatment is not necessarily terminal. The family is focused on providing quality of life to the influencer during the process of adapting to treatment at home.
