The deaf people in Portugal have been without access to emergency services through the 112 line for almost five years. This situation represents a significant gap in the accessibility of public services for the deaf community.
The Left Bloc presented an initiative to demand that the Government commit to resolving this issue. The party considers it unacceptable that deaf people continue to be without this form of communication with emergency services.
The 112 line is the national emergency number, essential for situations of immediate danger. The lack of accessibility for deaf people means that these citizens cannot use a fundamental service in emergency situations.
