Copa do Brasil semifinals will have only foreign coaches for the first time in history

The Copa do Brasil semi-finals achieved an unprecedented milestone in the competition's history. For the first time at this stage, all four coaches are foreigners: three Portuguese — Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras), Pedro Emanuel (Vasco), and Luís Castro (Grêmio) — and one Argentine — Eduardo Domínguez (Atlético-MG).

With this, the tournament will certainly have a foreign coach as champion for only the second time. The only one to lift the trophy to date, since the first edition in 1989, was Abel Ferreira, with Palmeiras, in 2020.

Before this year, the semi-finals with the most foreigners had been those of 2024, with two. Argentine Ramón Díaz was in charge of Corinthians, which was eliminated by Flamengo, and Argentine Gabriel Milito was the coach of Atlético-MG, which defeated Vasco and advanced to the final — the champion was Flamengo under Brazilian Filipe Luís.
