Daniel Candeias officially announced his retirement from football at 38. The winger decided to put an end to a 25-year career in professional football, using social media to make the farewell to the pitch official. In his message, the player counted 580 games throughout his career, thanking football: "25 years. So many shirts. So many places. So many stories. A whole lifetime lived for the dream of being a football player. 580 Games. Thank you, football. It was an honor", Candeias wrote on his X account.

The player started his youth career at FC Porto, at Olival, having reached the first team of the dragons, where he made ten appearances. After leaving FC Porto, Candeias went through several Portuguese clubs, playing for Varzim, Rio Ave, Paços de Ferreira, Portimonense, and Nacional, before joining Benfica in 2014.

The passage through Benfica did not have great prominence, as indicated by the article, although this information appears to be incomplete. Throughout his career, the winger also represented clubs abroad, completing a diverse journey both in Portugal and outside the country.
