The minister of the Attorney General's Office, Jorge Messias, said in private conversations that the Federal Police report that mentions him, used by Minister Alexandre de Moraes against colleague André Mendonça, represents revenge by the corporation. According to Messias, the PF took revenge because he did not comply with the institution's request to challenge Mendonça's initiatives in the inquiry investigating INSS fraud.
In the same conversations, Messias said that the references made to him in the report are a disgrace. When questioned by the press about the content of the document, the minister said he would not comment on the matter.
Messias had been participating in attempts to build a diplomatic exit for the crisis triggered after the revelation of a new round of messages between banker Daniel Vorcaro and Alexandre de Moraes. The solution negotiated behind the scenes would involve the return of the report that mentions Moraes to the PF, in exchange for closing the Fake News inquiry, which has now been used against Mendonça.
