RTP Notícias4 September 2026 at 12:20

Australian Nick Kyrgios was suspended for one month after testing positive for cocaine. The sanction was announced by the International Tennis Integrity Agency on Thursday.

In addition to the suspension, Kyrgios will have to join a detoxification program as part of his penalty conditions. The agency responsible for integrity in tennis revealed the details of this decision.

The professional tennis player, known for his controversial behavior on and off the court, thus faces one of the most significant sanctions of his career. This is not the first time the Australian player has been involved in controversies.

The one-month suspension means Kyrgios will be barred from competing during this period, which affects his participation in professional tournaments. The detoxification program represents an additional condition imposed by the sports authorities.
