The Teresina City Hall announced a new education policy with the goal of literating 100% of 2nd grade elementary school students by 2028. The measure was published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality and establishes specific goals for improving education in the public school system of the capital of Piauí.
Beyond the full literacy goal, the policy also defines objectives related to reading fluency and the recovery of student learning. These goals seek to address the learning challenges many students face following the impacts of the covid-19 pandemic on education.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the municipal administration to improve the educational indicators of Teresina. The city's public school system will be responsible for implementing the necessary strategies to achieve the established objectives within the four-year timeframe.
