The president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença, visited on Thursday, September 3, the works of the future Football Academy of Santarém, which is being built at Quinta do Rolim, next to the Aquatic Complex of the city. The visit counted with the presence of the mayor of Santarém, João Teixeira Leite, and the president of the Santarém Football Association, Joaquim Martinho Dias, in addition to several officials from the three institutions.
Before going to the construction site, Pedro Proença visited the City Hall and the headquarters of the Santarém Football Association. In the Noble Hall of the Municipal Council, the Santarém executive presented the planned investment plan for the sports infrastructures of the municipality, with a value close to 14 million euros for the coming years.
The inauguration of the academy may take place on March 19, 2027, coinciding with the Municipal Holiday of Santarém, although this forecast is not yet officially confirmed. The project aims to transform football in Santarém with the creation of this reference sports infrastructure in the region.
