Caniço Solidary Shop denounces lack of civic responsibility

dnoticias.pt4 September 2026 at 11:59

The Loja Solidária do Caniço denounced, through a social media post, a situation of improper clothing disposal near its premises. The clothes were found scattered on the street and the bags were torn, demonstrating disrespectful behavior towards the space.

The situation was shared by the Junta de Freguesia do Caniço, which lamented what happened and appealed to the population's civic responsibility. The shared message was clear: "This is not solidarity. It is lack of civic responsibility," criticizing those who dispose of clothes inappropriately.

The Junta explained that the Loja Solidária exists to support those most in need in the community. The space was created with the aim of receiving donations responsibly and distributing them to people in vulnerable situations.

The entity warned that the solidary shop should not be used as a dumping ground for unwanted clothes. The appeal to civic responsibility aims to ensure that the space continues to function properly and fulfill its mission of solidarity in the parish of Caniço.
