Social Security Minister Wolney Queiroz announced this Thursday (day 3) that the queue for services at the National Social Security Institute (INSS) was cleared, marking the target achieved in the previous month. The announcement was made at the Presidential Palace, with the presence of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
According to the ministry, from February to August, the number of expert witness requests awaiting service has been gradually decreasing. In February, there were 3.12 million people in the queue, while 1.17 million people opened new requests that month.
The number of people in the queue decreased progressively until reaching 1.547 million in July. In August, the number of new requests exceeded the number of people still awaiting service, which meant the queue ceased to exist as such.
The minister explained that when new requests exceed those in the queue, there is no longer a queue per se, but rather a service flow. According to Queiroz, the current situation is comparable to a store that has 12 salespeople and only eight customers enter, indicating there is slack in the service.
