Animal protection associations in Sintra receive support from the municipality

The Sintra City Council will allocate 69 thousand euros to animal protection associations in the municipality, with the aim of strengthening shelter conditions and the care provided to animals.

The support will make it possible to improve living conditions in shelters and colonies, ensure urgent veterinary medical care, and reinforce responses to animal overpopulation control, also contributing to public health protection.

According to Marco Almeida, mayor of Sintra, the investment allows for reinforcing collaboration with entities that play an essential role in the sheltering, treatment, and adoption of stray animals.

The municipality considers that the partnership with animal welfare associations is fundamental to addressing the needs of abandoned or stray animals and to promoting animal welfare in the municipality.
