The crisis at the Supreme Federal Court (STF) escalated yesterday with a request from Justice Alexandre de Moraes for André Mendonça to be investigated for what he classified as "signs of crimes" committed by his Court colleague in the conduct of inquiries under his rapporteurship, especially those related to the Master scandal. The dispatch comes two days after Mendonça removed the secrecy from a Federal Police (PF) report that revealed messages from Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Master bank, to Moraes himself.

It is the first time that two members of the STF exchange accusations openly, including with procedural decisions targeting each other. The escalation of tension between the two justices marks a new phase in the internal conflict at the Court, which had already been affected by disputes and tensions between different factions of the tribunal.
