The largest music festival in Rio de Janeiro, Rock in Rio (RIR), begins this Friday, with more than 190 performances on September 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13. According to Riotur, the city's public transports will operate with a special service during the event's early mornings, since the main shows are expected to end around 2 AM. In total, up to approximately 100,000 people are expected daily at the event.

In partnership with RiR, the Municipal Transportation Secretariat (SMTR) and Mobi-Rio set up a special BRT operation for the event days. The BRT Expresso Rock in Rio will feature articulated buses circulating through the system's exclusive lanes in three services, including SE008, which operates directly between Jardim Oceânico Terminal and Cidade do Rock.
