Loures City Hall will distribute 20 thousand bracelets that detect the "rape drug"

TV RECORD EUROPA4 September 2026 at 10:07

The Municipality of Loures will distribute 20 thousand bracelets designed to detect substances used to adulterate alcoholic drinks. The bracelets were developed with the ability to identify the so-called "rape drug," also known as GHB, which is frequently used to spike victims in nightlife settings.

This initiative comes as a prevention and safety measure for frequenters of nightlife venues in the municipality. The goal is to allow young people and other citizens to consume drinks more safely, quickly identifying whether their glass has been tampered with.

Information about this and other news is available on the RECORD TV website, which reported on the initiative by the Loures municipal council. This measure is part of policies to protect citizens, particularly young people, against criminal practices involving drink tampering.

Taiwan plans additional 3.9 billion euros for Defense spending in 2026

Taiwan's Government proposed an additional increase of 3.95 billion euros in Defense spending for 2026, aimed at strengthening the island's defensive combat capability, including the urgent acquisition of more than 600 surveillance drones, 40,000 coastal attack drones and 100 unmanned suicide attack vessels, in addition to medium-range anti-ballistic missiles. The proposal was, however, reduced by the parliament controlled by the opposition. Taiwan has been reinforcing its "asymmetric warfare" strategy in response to China's growing military power, which considers the island one of its provinces and does not rule out the use of force.
