The return to school is imminent and Portugal faces a significant problem: there are more than 2,600 unassigned schedules in public schools. This situation jeopardizes the proper functioning of the upcoming school year.

Filinto Lima, president of the National Association of Directors and School Clusters of Public Schools, was heard on the matter and explained the reasons behind this situation. According to the official, this is a problem that repeats consistently, year after year, without a lasting solution being found.

The situation reflects structural difficulties in the Portuguese educational system in attracting and retaining teachers to fill these vacancies. The phenomenon is not new and has been repeating consecutively, which indicates that the measures adopted so far have not been sufficient to definitively solve the problem.
