During the last nine months, the investigation into possible criminal responsibilities of senior officials in Isabel Díaz Ayuso's government for the referral protocols of residents to hospitals during the pandemic has practically not advanced. One of the causes for this situation may be related to the existence of proceedings open in different courts throughout the Community of Madrid.
Some judges are in conflict with each other to avoid the matter, while others advocate for the creation of a 'macro-case' that could encompass more than half a dozen cases. This jurisdictional dispute is hindering the progress of the proceedings.
The first of the cases was assumed by Instruction Court number 3 of Madrid, which opposes the concentration of all proceedings in a single court. This resistance on the part of the court that initiated the investigation contrasts with the requests of other magistrates who prefer to unify the cases to facilitate their processing.
