Évora27: two calls for community projects

Évora will be the European Capital of Culture in 2027 and has launched two calls to support community projects. The applications are intended for initiatives that contribute to the revitalization of the territories and to strengthening the sense of belonging among local populations. The program manager states that the goal is to directly involve communities in this cultural process. The calls are part of the preparation for the year when Évora will hold the title of European Capital of Culture.

Taiwan plans additional 3.9 billion euros for Defense spending in 2026

Taiwan's Government proposed an additional increase of 3.95 billion euros in Defense spending for 2026, aimed at strengthening the island's defensive combat capability, including the urgent acquisition of more than 600 surveillance drones, 40,000 coastal attack drones and 100 unmanned suicide attack vessels, in addition to medium-range anti-ballistic missiles. The proposal was, however, reduced by the parliament controlled by the opposition. Taiwan has been reinforcing its "asymmetric warfare" strategy in response to China's growing military power, which considers the island one of its provinces and does not rule out the use of force.

The young women highlight the authenticity and genuineness of this pilgrimage, which remains rooted in devotion to São João, in the fulfillment of promises, and in fellowship between generations, attracting pilgrims from across the country and from Spain, even in adverse conditions such as rain. Both emphasize the importance of the involvement of new generations and the growing presence of young people camping on the mountain during the festival days.
