The criminal inquiry relative to the Glória Elevator is being conducted by the DIAP Regional de Lisboa and still does not have any constituted defendants. The Public Prosecutor's Office decided not to name suspects at this point, choosing to gather more evidence before moving forward to that procedural phase.
The process should be concluded in March 2027, a date that coincides with the end of the parallel investigation being conducted by GPIAAF, the Railway Accidents and Aviation Accidents and Incidents Investigation Group.
The delay in the conclusions is due to the fact that technical expert reports are still ongoing within the scope of the process. These investigations aim to determine the causes and responsibilities for the incident at the elevator.
Although the inquiry has not yet reached formal conclusions, it is already evident to the investigators that there was a lack of structural safety within Carris regarding this transport, one of the most iconic in Lisbon.
