Hundreds of people protested on Thursday in the streets of Santiago, capital of Chile, against right-wing policies during the Madrid Forum. The protests took place in parallel with the participation of conservative leaders at the meeting.
Among the participants in the event were Argentine President Javier Milei and Chilean politician José Antonio Kast, both associated with right-wing positions in the South American political landscape.
Chilean police responded to the protests using water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd that had gathered near the venue of the meeting.
Several people were arrested by Chilean authorities during the confrontation between protesters and security forces.
