A man was arrested in Teresina with R$ 57.4 thousand in cash that would be used in an electoral sticker campaign. The arrest was carried out by the Federal Police and is part of an operation investigating electoral crimes in the capital of Piauí.
The money was found hidden in the suspect's underwear during the stop. The total amount of R$ 57.4 thousand would be destined for payment of participants in the sticker campaign, with each person receiving R$ 250 to paste stickers of candidates in public places.
The operation is still ongoing and may result in new arrests and seizures. Authorities continue investigating to identify others involved in the scheme to buy electoral support.
